Galatians 5:6

⁶For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

One of God's covenants with Abraham included circumcision of his male descendants. It was an outward sign of an inward sensitivity to God's words. Some of the early Jewish Christians believed non-Jewish converts should be circumcised. Paul argued that they were saved by faith in what Christ did, not on what obedience to the Old Covenant does or doesn't do for us. Conversion is ceasing to trust in our own goodness and placing our faith in what Jesus did for us.

No religious ritual or custom counts for anything with God. God isn't going to let you into heaven because you gave an offering every week. Religious obligations don't count for anything. Only faith working through love matters in the eternal realm. If you gave your offering at the prompting of the Holy Spirit and you responded out of love for the Lord, then it has eternal significance but not in regards to salvation.

Jesus did everything necessary for our salvation and we can add nothing to it. If we are in Christ, by faith we can hear and yield to the Spirit and respond in love. God rewards our cooperation with Him with heavenly rewards. Faith working through love should be the daily life of a believer,
